Hello, I'm Orla
There's a corner of my house with a window, an old cushion and very bad light in the evening. That's the nook. It's where I work, and it's where this shop started.
It began with animal socks one winter, because I couldn't find any I liked — everything in the shops was thin, scratchy, or covered in something printed. So I found a sloth. Then a highland cow. Then people started asking.
Everything comes in small batches. The animals are stitched on rather than glued, which is the slow part, and the reason there are never very many of anything. When a batch sells out, it's out until the next one.
The watches
The other half of the shop is an old habit. I've always picked up little watches with colourful faces — the kind nobody makes any more, with numbers in six different colours and a woven strap. I choose each one myself. They're not investments. They're the sort of thing you wear because it makes you smile when you check the time.
How I work
